Sensor Placement & the Data Audit

Representative placement across zones, why one probe can't govern a room, cross-checking against handhelds, and a standing data-integrity audit that catches the sensor lying before you steer on a lie.

You steer on the data, so audit the data first

Everything in this department reduces to one dependency: you make steering decisions from streamed numbers, so a wrong number is a wrong steer, applied to the whole room, for as long as you trust it. The basic placement rules — probe fully in representative media, use the alignment tool, log continuously — were covered in the room-check lesson. This lesson is the layer above that: how do you know the number is true? A probe reading 55% VWC when the slab is really at 40% doesn't announce itself; it just quietly steers you wet while the plant tells you the opposite. Data integrity is not a one-time setup task. It is a standing discipline.
