HpLVd Awareness & Tool Sterilization
The hop latent viroid that silently halves potency in ~90% of surveyed CA facilities — how it spreads, how to test, what sanitation actually works, and the only reliable cure.
The threat that lives in propagation
Hop latent viroid (HpLVd, 'dudding disease') is the single most important biosecurity threat in this department, because it is spread mechanically by tools and cuttings — which means propagation is exactly where it moves through a facility. It is not a leaf-spot you can see. Infected plants are stunted and brittle with short internodes and airy, loose buds, and the signature is a ~50% reduction in cannabinoids and terpenes — frequently undiagnosed until a potency test comes back low. Many carriers are asymptomatic for a long time.
